The Appaloosa Blue Ridge Arts Foundation (ABRAF) is a 501(c)(3), founded to reignite interest in roots music. The Shenandoah Valley was once known for its rich musical heritage, and was a bluegrass mecca in the 1970s. Since then, interest in folk music has dwindled - but ABRAF hopes to rebuild the roots community by providing FREE music workshops all weekend.
Throughout the weekend, you are welcome to take part in the various workshops given by festival performers. The atmosphere is informal in hopes of inviting an intimate musical encounter with our artists. Our hope is that this encounter ignites a spark in young and old alike, to explore the rich heritage in roots music.
Our 2018 workshops can be found in the festival schedule.
If you would like to support ABRAF, and make a tax deductible donation, you can do so here.
